Mangalorean Christmas Sweet: Kulkuls

 

 

Kulkuls are one of the tastiest Christmas sweets to prepare for the family. It is very simple and the ingredients involved in the recipe are inexpensive, so every body can make an effort to prepare this sweet.

 

 

Ingredients:

 

 

1. Half kg Plain flour (Maida)

2. One Coconut juice

 

 

3. One tsp baking powder

 

 

4. Two eggs

 

 

5. Sugar (optional)

 

 

6. One tablespoon butter

 

 

7. Oil for deep frying

 

 

 

Method of preparation:

 

 

1. Mix the flour and baking powder well.

2. Add butter, mix gently.

 

 

3. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl and add them to the flour-butter mix.

 

 

4. Add coconut milk little by little to the mixture and knead well.

 

 

5. Make small marble sized balls and role each ball spreading on a clean comb. Roll the the balls on the comb.

 

 

6. Heat the oil in a deep heavy bottomed pan on a medium flame and fry the kulkuls till golden brown.

 

 

7. Drain and cool on paper towel.

 

 

8. When cooled store the kulkuls for a long time in airtight container.
